Wife of John McGee

Pioneer Resident Passes Away at Residence on Southern Ave.
 
Mrs. Eliza McGee passed away at the family residence, 523 Southern Ave., Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. She was the wife of the late John McGee, who preceded her in death exactly twelve years ago within a few hours, passing away at 2 o'clock in the morning.
The deceased was born in County Cavan, Ireland; eighty years ago and when a child of nine years, came to this country with her parents, residing first in Missouri.  The family removed to East Dubuque sixty years ago and twenty five years later came to this city.
The deceased is survived by two sons; John McGee of East Dubuque and Captain Cornelius McGee of the Streckfus Line and two daughters; Mrs. Thomas Dillon and Miss Anna McGee of this city.
Mrs. McGee was a member of the Catholic Church and attended the Cathedral parish, passing away fortified by its rites.  She was also a member of the League of the Sacred Heart.  She possessed a beautiful character, and her entire life was devoted to others.  She will be deeply missed byall who knew her.
The funeral will take place Thursday morning from the residence at 8:45 o'clock, and to the Cathedral at 9 o'clock.  Interment will be made beside her husband in the family lot in the East Dubuque Cemetery.

Mrs. Rose Dillon, 88, of 349 Eighth Ave., died Tuesday at Finley Hospital.  She had been ill a week.  The body is at the Bennett and Ashworth Funeral Home.  The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Thursday to St. Raphael's Cathedral.  Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
She was born March 13, 1863, in East Dubuque, moving to Dubuque when she was 17.  She was a member o the cathedral parish, the Rosary Society and the Sacred Heart League.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Mary Thielen, Mrs. George (Elsie) Bardon & Mrs. Clarence Gilligan, all of Dubuque; a son, Thomas Dillon, Jr. of Denver, Colorado. 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, three brothers and a sister.

EAST DUBUQUER FOUND DEAD
 
Wallace J. McGee, 69, East Dubuque, was found dead in a garage at his home, 500 Montgomery Ave. residence at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday.
Jo Daviess County Coroner James Furlong said his death was an apparent suicide by hanging.  According to East Dubuque police who investigated, McGee had left his house for an early morning walk.  When he failed to return within an hour, his wife asked a next door neighbor to help look for her husband.  The neighbor discovered the body.
Services will be held at 2:30 P. M. DST Thursday at the Haudenshield Funeral Home in East Dubuque, with burial in the East Dubuque Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 P.M. Wednesday.
He was born in East Dubuque, and was a lifelong resident of the city.  He was employed by the Interstate Power Co., for more than 45 years before his retirement five years ago.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Nellie McGee; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Talley of East Dubuque; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Nellie McGee, 70, of 500 Montgomery, East Dubuque, died at 11:05 p.m. Monday at Mercy Hospital.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Haudenshield Funeral Home in East Dubuque.
Funeral Services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church in East Dubuque, with the Rev. John Tuchlinsky officiating. Burial will be in the East Dubuque Cemetery.
She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois; February 16, 1891, and lived in East Dubuque for 52 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Talley of East Dubuque; three sisters, Mrs. Sadie Petry & Mrs. Carl Klaeska of Dubuque, and Mrs. Bessie Pinger of Madison, Wisconsin; a brother Charles Gaylor of Dubuque; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The Rosary will be said at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
 
 
"LeRoy (Roy) J. McGee"

Remains Of R. McGee To Arrive Friday
 
The body of Roy F. McGee, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. F. McGee, of East Dubuque, who passed away at the family home, in Hammond, Louisiana on Tuesday morning will arrive in East Dubuque tomorrow morning for burial and funeral services. The remains will lie in state at the home of his parents.
Mr. McGee was well known in this city and in East Dubuque for he resided in the latter place until fifteen years ago, when he moved south with his parents. He was 34 years old and was graduated from the East Dubuque High School.  For the past six years he has been proprieter of a garage in Hammond. Besides his parents he is survived by his widow, three children and a brother, Wallace of East Dubuque.
Mr. McGee was stricken with the "flu" a year ago and had been ailing since that time.
