"Anton Thielen"
Anton Robert Thielen, who had been sick for the past two years died in Iowa City Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock.
The remains will be brought to this city and taken to the home at 2494 West Street, from where the funeral will be held Thursday morning to St. Anthony's church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Thielen is survived by his wife Mary Thielen; two daughters, Angela and Helen; two sons, Robert and Herman; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Thielen of this city; three brothers, William of Maywood, Illinois, Frank and Arthur of Dubuque; a sister, Mrs. William Bauer of this city. He had been employed at the Martin-Strelau Company for the past ten years. He was born in Dubuque on November 23, thirty-eight years ago and had always resided in this city. Being a devout Catholic, he was comforted by the rites of that religion.

Mrs. Mary Thielen, 71, of a local convalescent home, died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday at Finley Hospital. She was the widow of Anthony Thielen.
Friends may call after noon Wednesday at the Strueber Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church. The Rev. L. V. McDonough, pastor, will sing the Requiem Mass. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Thielen was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Patrick's Church.
She was born at Dubuque, daughter of Thomas and Rose Dillon and was a lifelong resident of Dubuque.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Sylvester (Angella) Callahan and Mrs. Robert (Helen) Wright of Dubuque; two sons, Robert and Herman Thielen of Dubuque; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. George Bardon and Mrs. Clarence Gilligan of Dubuque. The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Strueber Funeral Home.

Mrs. Helen M. Wright, 74, of 2719 Jackson St., formerly of 2284 1/2 Jackson St., died at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Health Center-St. Joseph's Unit, Dubuque.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at De Watcher-Haudenshield Funeral Home, 2170 Central Ave., with burial in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Wright was a homemaker. She was born on March 24, 1917 in Dubuque, daughter of Anton and Mary (Dillon) Thielen.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Carol) Pins of Dubuque, Mrs. Janet Carrier of Picher, Oklahoma and Mrs. Michael (Michele) Wade of Needles, California; a son, Gerald and (Bertha) Wright of Cedar Rapids; 15 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and 16 step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Thielen of Dubuque and Herman Thielen of Marshalltown.

Robert E. Wright, 76, 2719 Jackson St., died at 8:05 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 1996, at the Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center, formerly the Dubuque Health Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Mueller Memorial Chapel at Linwood Cemetery. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, where there will be parish wake service at 4:30 p.m.
Mr. Wright was formerly employed at the former Dubuque Packing Co., for 36 years, retiring in 1980.
He was born on June 27, 1920, in Dubuque, son of Robert C. and Viola (Henkel) Wright. He married Helen Thielen in 1938, in Dubuque; she died in May 1991. He later married Carol Ohnesorge in July 1976, in Dubuque; she died in May 1995. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was a well known saxophone player with several bands in the Dubuque area, including the Rhythm Kings and the Leo Beschen Trio. He was a former member of the Musicians Local. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Carol) Pins of Dubuque and Mrs. Michael (Michele) Wade of Miami, Oklahoma; a son, Gerald R. (Bertha) Wright of Green Bay, Wisconsin; a stepson, Francis (June) Milner of Greensboro, NC; and 15 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Mancel (Janet) Carrier; and a brother, Richard Wright. A Robert E. Wright Memorial Fund has been established.

Mrs. Slyvester (Angella Rose) Callahan, 52, of 1243 Bluff St., died at 4:50 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Hospital.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Sunday at the Strueber Funeral Home. Funeral Arrangements will be announced later by the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Callahan was born at Dubuque, daughter of Anton and Mary Dillon Thielen, and was a life-long resident of Dubuque. Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. John (Joyce) Specht of Dubuque and Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Oas of Alexander, South Dakota; one son, Joseph A. Johnson of Dubuque; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Wright of Dubuque; two brothers, Robert A. and Herman D. Thielen, both of Dubuque. Funeral Services for Mrs. Sylvester Callahan will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Strueber Funeral Home. The Rev. A. W. Sigwarth, pastor of St. Mary's Church, will be officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home, where the parish Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Monday.

Sylvester "Syl" Callahan, 84, of Sunnycrest Manor, formerly of 1243 Bluff St., died at 8 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 1987, at St. Joseph's Unit of Mercy Health Center.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Egelhof-Casper-Strueber Funeral Home, 1145 Locust St., where the wake service will be said at 7 p.m. Mr. Callahan, who was born April 25, 1903 at Epworth, Iowa, married Angella (Thielen) Johnson, June 9, 1947. He last worked at Johnnies Meat Market until he retired. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.
His wife died September 4, 1965.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Oas of Madison, South Dakota; a stepson, Joseph A. Johnson and a step-daughter, Mrs. John (Joyce) Specht-both of Dubuque; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Church.

Funeral services for Janet Sue Carrier will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel of Picher with Lloyd Stone officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery northwest of Treece, Kansas. Pallbearers will be Michael Harrison, Rick Rowden, Clifton South, Larry Loftin, Michael Carrier and Thomas Carrier, Jr. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Picher. Carrier died at 5:55 p.m. December 4, 1994 at her home in Picher after an illness. She was 48.
Services are under the direction of the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Picher.
Janet Sue (Wright) Carrier, 48, of Picher, Oklahoma, formerly of Dubuque, died Sunday afternoon, December 4, 1994, at home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Paul Thomas Chapel, Picher, where friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery; Treece, Kansas.
